I absolutely love McDonald’s crispy chicken wraps, so this is a bit of a McDonald’s wraps copycat recipe, but it’s much healthier and ideal for families.

You might not think a chicken wrap is filling enough for a meal, but using breaded mini chicken breast fillets and serving with potato wedges or other sides makes it really satisfying and absolutely delicious.

Whether you want a tasty lunch or an easy dinner, these air fryer crispy chicken wraps are perfect!

Why I Love Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wraps

Who doesn’t love crispy chicken wraps?!

  • Air frying is a great way to get crispy chicken.
  • Air Fried Chicken is much healthier than fried chicken.
  • Air fryer chicken wraps are quick and easy.
  • Everyone can add their own sauces and salad. My daughter puts ketchup on hers!

Are Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wraps Healthy?

Yes, these are healthy air fryer wraps.

Ingredients For Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wraps

When I make my Air fryer crispy sweet chilli chicken wraps, I use:

Cooking Oil

Mini Chicken Breast Fillets – Or slice larger breasts to make crispy chicken strips.

Plain Flour

Eggs

Dijon Mustard – You can use English mustard, too.

Panko Breadcrumbs

Salt and Pepper

Paprika

Tortilla Wraps

Sweet Chilli Sauce – This is optional; I love sweet chilli, but you can use any sauce you like.

Lettuce, Tomato and Cucumber These are optional, too, but I like adding crunch and colour.

You’ll Also Need

These are some of the things I use to make air frying chicken easier.

  • I recommend using a food thermometer when cooking chicken in the air fryer. I use one a bit like this (affiliate link), and I use this resource to make sure everything I cook is at the right temperature.
  • Silicone tongs (affiliate link) are ideal for turning food.
  • You can just brush your tray with oil, but a spray bottle (affiliate link) can also be handy.
  • I Use regular bowls for my flour, egg and breadcrumbs. Cereal bowls are fine for these mini fillets, but wider bowls are better for larger breasts.
  • I cook my chicken directly on the crisper tray of my air fryer. This lets the air circulate around the meat. If you haven’t got one or need a replacement, you can buy them online (affiliate link).

How to Air Fry Crispy Chicken Wraps– Step-by-Step Instructions

Full, easy-to-follow instructions and quantities are available in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Step One

Whisk the eggs with the Dijon mustard in a small bowl. The bowls just need to be big enough to dip the chickens.

whisked egg in bowl.

Step Two

In another bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs with a little salt and pepper and the paprika.

Step Three

Place the flour in a third bowl. I set these up in a line so that I can dip easily.

Step Four

Lightly rub or spray the crisper tray of your air fryer basket with cooking oil. If you are rubbing, make sure the tray is cool.

Step Five

Preheat your air fryer for 12 minutes and set it at 180 degrees C.

Step Six

Dip each chicken fillet in the flour, turning and making sure the whole fillet is lightly coated.

Step Seven

Reheat with the egg and then the panko breadcrumbs.

Step Eight

Place the coated chicken on a plate until your air fryer is ready.

Step Nine

Carefully place the chicken on the crisper tray in a single layer, leaving a little space between them. You might need to cook in two batches unless you have two drawers or a wire tray to separate your basket.

Step Twelve

If the chicken isn’t quite cooked or the outside isn’t as crispy as you’d like, return it to the air fryer for a few more minutes.

Step Thirteen

Spread each wrap with your favourite condiments and salad before adding 2-3 crispy chicken fillets and wrapping carefully.

Serving Suggestions

I typically serve my wraps with homemade wedges for a filling and yummy dinner. You can also serve them with a side salad, coleslaw, and veggies. Corn on the cob would be great.

The other thing that you can change is the sauce!

Air Fryer Sweet Chilli Chicken Wraps

I love sweet chilli on my chicken wraps. I also sometimes add a little mayo!

Air Fryer Ceasar Chicken Wraps

Caesar dressing is another great option for a crispy chicken Caesar wrap.

Or ketchup, mayo, sweet chili mayo, ranch dressing, and pretty much anything else. The beauty of breaded chicken is that it goes with everything!

Leftovers

If you are feeding fewer than four people, I recommend a smaller pack of chicken, so you are only cooking what you need.

If you do end up with leftover chicken, cover and place in the fridge for up to two days.

Reheat in the microwave, or using your air fryers reheat setting (or air fry at 150 degrees C). How long for will depend on how long you have left, but make sure the chicken is piping hot before serving
