Why I Love Air Fryer Tuna Melt Wraps

I love making a Tuna melt air fryer recipe, and I think you will too because:

  • If you like tuna salad or sandwich, you will love this too.
  • A Tuna Cheese wrap gets all melty and warm and is just amazing!
  • Air-fried tuna wraps have very little prep time, making them perfect for lunch.
  • Air fryer tuna melts are sooooo yummy! They’re really just sandwiches, but they feel a bit fancier.
  • Cooking them in the air fryer crisps the wraps a little, so they stay in shape, sealing the tuna in, and the edges have a satisfying crunch, while the middle is still soft.

Ingredients For Air Fryer Tuna Melt Wraps

There are plenty of things that you can add to your tuna melts. I keep mine fairly simple with:

2 Tortilla Wraps – Any kind. I use large flour wraps.

2 Tins Tuna – Mine are in spring water, but whatever you usually buy is fine. You might know it as canned tuna.

Pickled Gherkins

Mayonnaise – You can use low-fat if that’s what you usually buy.

Dijon Mustard – English mustard is fine too.

Cheddar Cheese – mature is best.

You can add a little salt and freshly ground black pepper if you want to.

If you know that your air fryer tends to stick, rub the tray with olive oil first, but I don’t do this.

Step Six

Place them in the air fryer basket, seam side down, and lightly press them into place. Just to flatten them down a little, stopping them from rolling around.

Step Seven

Air fry at 200 degrees C for five minutes, carefully turning over halfway. The seam should have cooked and sealed in place, so you shouldn’t need to worry about them opening.

If you don’t want your wraps to crisp, reduce the temperature a little. If you want them to crisp more, air fry for longer until the wrap is golden brown.

Step Eight

Carefully remove and serve.

Serving Suggestions

I typically serve my air fryer tuna melt wraps with things like coleslaw, a side salad, or crisps. You could add chips or potato wedges for a larger meal.

Variations

I love air fryer tuna melt wraps with pickles. I love the flavour and the crunchy texture. But I appreciate that this probably isn’t for everyone.

You can skip them entirely, or add something like diced red pepper instead.

You can also skip the mustard, or mix your mayo with salad cream for more of a tangy flavour.

Another variation is the wraps. I use large white wraps, but you can use seeded, best of both, wholemeal, or any other kind that you like.
