Ingredients For Air Fryer Pizza Baguettes

Air fryer pizza baguettes are amazingly simple. When I make them, I use:

Baguette – This recipe feeds four, so you want a proper full-sized French stick. Use a mini one if there are only two of you.

Chopped Tomatoes – This is for the sauce. Use store-bought pizza sauce if you prefer.

Salt and Black Pepper

Basil – You could also add a little garlic if you wanted to.

Mozzarella Cheese

Pepperoni

You’ll Also Need

If you are making your own sauce, you’ll need a small pan and a fork.

Apart from that you just need a chopping board, bread knife, spoon and your air fryer.

How to Air Fry Pizza Baguettes – Step-by-Step Instructions

Full, easy-to-follow instructions and quantities are available in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Step One

Place the tomatoes, basil and a good pinch of salt and pepper in a small saucepan over medium heat on the hob. Skip this if you are using store-bought pizza sauce.

tomatoes, herbs and pepper in saucepan.

Step Two

Bring to a simmer.

Step Three

Simmer for 10 minutes (reducing the heat if necessary for a gentle simmer) stirring occasionally.

Step Four

Remove from the heat and use a fork to mash out the lumps carefully.

tomato pizza sauce in saucepan.

Step Five

Leave to one side.

Step Six

Chop the baguette into 4 and cut each piece in half so you’ve got 8 pieces. Make sure you cut the bread to fit your air fryer. This might mean you have more or fewer pieces.

cut baguette.

Step Seven

Spread each piece of baguette liberally with tomato.

2 halves of a baguette piece on chopping board spread with tomato sauce.

Step Eight

Sprinkle on a liberal handful of cheese. I give it a little press into the cheese, to help secure it in place so it doesn’t blow off in the air fryer. The warm tomato sauce will help this too – the cheese will start to melt and stick straight away.

I don’t put my pepperoni on now. It would just blow off. I let the cheese cook for 90 seconds first, so that it’s soft and sticky, to hold the pepperoni in place.

Step Nine

Place as many as you can in the air fryer basket. They can be fairly squashed in. Actually, this will help to stop them from rolling over.

Step Ten

Air fry for 90 seconds at 200 degrees C. I don’t preheat.

Step Eleven

Remove the basket and carefully press a few pepperoni pieces on top of each piece of baguette. It will stick to the melted cheese, stopping it from blowing off in the air fryer.

Be very careful, it will all be very hot.

Step Twelve

Return to the air fryer and air fry for 2-3 minutes at 200 degrees C.

Step Thirteen

Carefully remove them from the basket. Be super careful, the sides will be hot. Use tongs if it’s easier.

Step Fourteen

Repeat with the remaining baguette. I cook in two batches. Be careful putting more in as the basket will still be hot.

Serving Suggestions

Pizza is funny really, isn’t it? It’s a full meal really. There’s bread, cheese, veggies and meat, it’s got it all. It’s big. You don’t need anything else. Yes, most of us do add extras.

The same is true of air-fried pizza bagels. It’s pretty filling.

But you can add things like potato wedges, salad or coleslaw

Variations

Pizzas, whether big round traditional ones or a fun pizza baguette, the toppings are really up to you.

Add Different Toppings

I’ve stuck to basic cheese, tomato and pepperoni for this recipe. But you can add any of your favourite pizza toppings.

Use Homemade French Bread

Homemade French bread, or different bread entirely is fine too.

You can also use store-bought pizza sauce.

Leftovers

You can warm leftover pizza bagels up in the air fryer, microwave or oven. Or you can eat them cold.

Storage

Store your leftovers in the fridge for 1-2 days.

FAQ

Can You Put French Bread Pizza in Air Fryer?

Yes.

Cheese First or Topping First?

I add the cheese first and give it a minute or two to melt before adding the other toppings. This helps them to stick to the cheese and stops them blowing off in the air fryer. In the oven, you can do it either way.

Can You Cook Frozen French Bread in an Air Fryer?

Air fryer frozen French bread is doable. But this recipe isn’t for that.
