Discover a quick and delicious Air Fryer Turkey Melt recipe! Perfectly melted cheese, tender turkey, and crispy bread in just minutes for a satisfying, easy-to-make meal.

I love a  Grilled cheese sandwich, or, as we’re more likely to call it in the UK, a cheese toastie!

What I love more is adding stuff! A cheese and tomato toastie is a big favourite. But, I also love that if you add cheese to a regular sandwich and warm it up, it’s a melt.

A turkey melt is basically a turkey toastie. But it sounds a bit fancier.

Making a turkey sandwich in air fryer is a great way to get a quick and tasty lunch.

Why I Love Air Fryer Turkey Melt

I love this turkey melt air fryer recipe because:

  • Air-fried turkey is yummy.
  • Air fryer sliced turkey with pickles and melted cheese is a really good combination with a great texture as well as taste.
  • I love all of the air fryer recipes!
  • Air fryer turkey melts are perfect for winter lunches even better with a bowl of warming soup.

Ingredients For Air Fryer Turkey Melt

There’s plenty that you can do differently when you make a Turkey and cheese melt in the air fryer. There are some options that you can look at below.

But to start with, I use the following for my Air fryer melt:

Thick White Bread – Something like tiger bread is perfect, but white toastie bread is fine, too.

Mayo

Turkey – The sandwich meat or Deli turkey meat kind that’s pre-cooked, sliced and ready to pop on a sandwich.

Gherkins

Cheddar Cheese – I grate my cheese, but sliced would work too.

Butter

You’ll Also Need

All you really need is your air fryer and the usual sandwich-making utensils like a butter knife.

If you are using chunky turkey, like leftover turkey, I also recommend using a food thermometer to check the Air fryer turkey temperature before serving. It should be over 75 degrees C.

Serving Suggestions

Serve your Air Fryer turkey sandwich however you’d usually serve sandwiches or Grilled cheese sandwiches. For me, this might be with crisps or some coleslaw. On a cold day, a bowl of soup.

For a larger meal, perhaps a family dinner, add some homemade potato wedges.

Variations

An Air Fryer turkey and cheese sandwich is a super simple meal with a fairly mild flavour. Turkey is really versatile, so there’s plenty that you can do differently.

Add Some Sauce

If you want a festive twist to your Hot turkey cheese sandwich recipe, add a layer of cranberry sauce. I’d skip the pickles and maybe add a little stuffing.

Add Cooked Bacon

Turkey and bacon is a classic combination. Adding a few slices of cooked bacon is a great way to jazz up your Turkey sandwich.

Just make sure the bacon is cooked first. It won’t cook properly in the Air fryer sandwich melt.

Add Sweet Peppers

If you don’t like pickles, a layer of sliced sweet peppers instead is yummy!

Use Different Bread

I tend to use white bread for my toasties, which is perhaps a little strange because I favour seeded bread for both cold sandwiches and buttered toast.

There are no rules about bread for a Turkey cheddar melt. Use what you like.

Skip the Mayo

If you don’t like mayo, skip it and butter both sides of the bread, or try different sauces and condiments.

Use Different Cheese

Cheddar makes Yummy grilled cheese sandwiches. It melts really well and tastes amazing. I use a strong cheddar.

But, again, experiment. Try different cheeses and use your favourites.
