My Favourite Recipes So Far

Well, that is to say, my favourite recipes of mine that I’ve published on my blog. I do occasionally really like something that someone else has come up with, and I’ve still got a few left up my sleeve which may be published at some point in the future. So, it’s my favourite recipes out of the 200 or so (how has that happened?!) that are currently on Bobsy’s Mum.

My favourite recipes are rarely your favourite recipes if I’m honest. My most popular recipes always surprise me a little bit. They tend to be the things that I think are really simple and that I’ve worried that no one will read because it’s too easy. Everyone loves them. Then, occasionally (not very often, I’m a simple kinda girl!) I’ll put a lot of thought into something, try out a few different recipes and write it all up. No one reads these. But alas, they are some of my favourites.

These recipes aren’t all my favourites for the same reason. I love them all differently for different reasons. Here they are!

Nutella Brownies

Nutella Brownies

I love making brownies. They’re my thing. I make them all of the time, adding different flavours and ingredients and fiddling with the recipe a little bit each time. They are gorgeous. I honestly think my brownies are the best! These Nutella Brownies though are even better. They’ve got less sugar than previous brownie recipes, but it works so well. The first time I made these, I knew I’d cracked brownies, and I’d got the recipe that I’d take forward to add other things to. They are wonderful. Easy to make, full of chocolate, papery cracked top and so sticky they leave your teeth chocolatey. Just how brownies should be.

Cottage Pie

Cottage pie is one of our favourite family meals. It’s one of those things that we probably eat once a month. I make a huge batch, one for dinner and one to go into the freezer. It’s filling, comforting and full of flavour. I don’t think there’s much better than a yummy cottage pie on a Saturday evening after a long day with the kids and it always makes the house smell wonderful!

Honey and Garlic Chicken

Garlic and Honey Chicken

I love this one because it’s easy. It’s all thrown together from bits that I’ve usually got in, and you can use absolutely any vegetables. I also love it because it’s something a little different that the kids love. They tend to favour traditional dishes, so it’s lovely that they enjoy this so much.

Chicken and Chorizo Pasta Bake

Cheesy Chicken and Chorizo Pasta Bake with Salad

All pasta bakes really but as yet I think this is the only one that I’ve published. If I’m completely honest, I even love a jar of pasta bake sauce from the supermarket that you just throw on to dry pasta and top with cheese. It’s a pasta love. This one is awesome though it’s got all of my favourite things. Even better, on a sandwich. All of the carbs!!

Lemon Drizzle Cake

Blueberry and Lemon Loaf Cake

I’ve never been very good at cake. It’s always been something that I’ve struggled with. They’ve been dry, funny shapes and generally stuck to the pan. This was the first cake that I ever made that is exactly how I want it to be. There have been more since I think I’m getting better at it. But, this one still stands out. It’s soft, moist, sweet and tangy. I love it! I recently made a similar cake with added blueberries which was also divine.

Lamb Rogan Josh

Curries are always a lot easier to make than I think they are going to be. They generally work quite well. This, however, is my absolute favourite. It’s the recipe that tastes the most like a takeout curry. The lamb is so beautifully tender, and the flavours are just right. I would quite happily eat this every week.

Rocky Road

Mini Egg Rocky Road Squares

Rocky road is one of the easiest things that you can ever make. And, it’s basically a really really hyped up biscuit. Biscuits are my ultimate weakness. I can have a small slice of cake; I can have a small portion of crisps or a few chunks of chocolate. I cannot have one biscuit. I can have one packet of biscuits. Hobnobs, bourbons and chocolate digestives are my treats of choice, chocolate being the common denominator. Rocky road is chocolate, biscuit and other fantastic things. And, even better, you can add pretty much anything to it. My Easter rocky road was a big hit, both at home and at husband’s workplace, where he uses all of my best recipes!

I’ve never had haggis before. I don’t think. Certainly not that I remember. This week was my first go at experimenting with what I could do with it. I was surprised to find it tastes like faggots. Husband doesn’t know what faggots are (and Grammarly […]

Homemade Chocolate Hobnobs

As far as I’m concerned, biscuits, especially hobnobs are the best thing ever. A biscuit (pack of) and a cup of tea are my ultimate weakness. I eat about 7, then decide I must finish the packet and the hide the evidence. At one point, […]
