Homemade Salsa

I love salsa. Both on a burger, or as a dip. It’s amazing how much flavour it holds, and how much you can do by making a few small changes. This one I made to top a halloumi and red pepper burger, so it’s nice and chunky, which adds a great crunch. But, if you wanted to use it as a dip, or spread, just blend it all up until it’s the consistency you want. This one is also quite spicy because the kids weren’t eating it. It worked so well on the burgers. The sweetness of the roasted red peppers tasted fantastic with this spicy salsa. I had what was left on a sandwich the day after, which was also pretty good!

Instructions

  • Pinch salt and pepper

Method

It’s so simple, just chop your tomatoes, onion and chilli, nice and fine, then add to a bowl. Next, either chop, crush or grate the garlic into the bowl. Mix it all together well.

chopped chili

Squeeze in the juice of 1 lime, add the oil, and a pinch of salt and pepper to taste, then mix It all together.

I tend to cling film it, and leave it in the fridge for a few hours before I serve, which just lets the flavours develop a bit more, giving it a punch.

Great on Burgers, but you could add it to anything. Even a cheese sandwich would be amazing topped with a homemade salsa.
