We made crème egg brownies today. So, to go along with this Spring/Easter theme, we decided to do some Easter based toilet roll tube crafting. And what’s more Eastery than an Easter Bunny?
I love that Spring is finally upon us. It’s still not overly bright here. But, it is a lot warmer, and it’s not dark until much later. Which is fantastic. I don’t mind it getting dark early before Christmas, when there is a novelty to coming home and putting your pjs on at 4pm. Then at some point it just seems to have been dark for 6 months, and I’ve had enough.
To make your toilet roll tube Easter Bunny,
You will need:
- Toilet roll tubes
- Pipe cleaners
- Masking tape
- Googly eyes
- Puffy balls (what are these called?!)
- Black pen
There are many changes you can make if you don’t have any of these things. So, don’t worry.
Firstly, paint your toilet roll tubes. We decided to make ours bright colours, but for a more traditional Easter Bunny, you could stick to white.
While they are drying, bend pipe cleaners into an ear shape, and use a little glue to secure the bottom. Leave these to dry also. Then, cut out some feet shapes from your coloured card. If you don’t have pipe cleaners, card could be used for the ears too.
When the tubes are dry, glue on the puffy nose, and the googly eyes. If you don’t have either of these, draw some on white card and cut them out.
Next, use masking tape, or glue, to secure the feet inside the tube, before folding them, so they can stand. I found masking tape easier, because I’m a bit too impatient and indelicate for glue.
Again, using tape or glue, secure the ears on to the inside of the top of the tube.
Finally, draw on some whiskers, and a mouth, before painting on some white teeth.
